Doral industrial — NPDES cleanout clears DERM notice
A 12-acre industrial logistics facility in Doral received a DERM notice for hydrocarbon sheen at its outfall. We inspected, cleaned, disposed under manifest, and delivered the documentation that closed the notice inside 30 days.
The challenge
DERM inspectors documented a visible sheen at the site's primary outfall to the C-6 canal during a dry-weather screening. The Multi-Sector General Permit (MSGP) coverage was current, but the SWPPP had not been updated since the previous operator, and no recent cleanout records existed.
Standard vactor spoils could not be dewatered on-site — the sediment tested positive for petroleum hydrocarbons and required manifested disposal at a licensed facility.
Scope of work
Catch basin cleanout with hydrocarbon-impacted spoils, manifested disposal at a licensed facility, dry-weather outfall screening, and SWPPP-ready documentation.
- Sediment characterization and disposal profiling
- Vactor cleanout of 22 catch basins across the site
- Manifested transport to a Florida-licensed disposal facility
- Hydro-jetting of the primary outfall trunk line
- Dry-weather outfall screening (post-clean) with photo verification
- Updated SWPPP inspection log and O&M records
