Compliance

Drainage recertification (the 5-year cycle and what really applies)

Florida properties have two recertification obligations: a drainage-district recert (commonly every 5 years, PE-signed) and the state ERP O&M inspection (every 1–3 years, system-type dependent, qualified inspector since June 28, 2025). SF Storm Drain performs and certifies the O&M inspection in-house and delivers the complete field package — cleaning, CCTV, photos, PACP coding — so your PE can sign off without re-mobilizing.

What's in the package

  • Full structure inventory and site map
  • Pre-inspection jetting / vacuum cleaning
  • HD CCTV of all accessible pipe runs
  • NASSCO PACP defect coding
  • Before/after photos of every structure
  • Deficiency list with prioritized repairs
  • Delivered PDF + raw video files
  • PE coordination for sign-off

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is recertification always every 5 years?
No — that's a common misconception. Five years is typical for drainage-district recerts (which require an engineer's seal), but the state ERP O&M inspection is set by system type: exfiltration trenches every 2 years, ponds every 3, underground systems yearly. We confirm the exact interval from your permit.
Who can sign the recertification?
Drainage-district recerts require a licensed Professional Engineer. Since June 28, 2025, the state ERP O&M inspection can be certified by a qualified inspector (engineer, supervised staff, or trained certified inspector). We perform and certify the O&M inspection in-house and coordinate a PE when a seal is required.
How long does the field work take?
For most commercial properties, field work takes 1–3 days, with signed reports typically delivered within 2–4 weeks of completion.
What does a full package cost?
Most South Florida commercial recertifications fall in the $2,400 – $9,500 range depending on property size, number of structures, and PE involvement.
