Everything you might want to ask
How often should commercial storm drains be cleaned in South Florida?
Most commercial and HOA properties should clean catch basins once or twice a year and before hurricane season; high-traffic or tree-heavy sites need more. Verify against your permit's O&M conditions.
How much does storm drain cleaning cost?
Routine catch basin cleaning runs about $125–$300 per structure; hydro-jetting $3–$25/LF; CCTV $10–$20/LF; lift-station service $500–$3,500/visit. Volume lowers per-unit cost.
How often is a drainage recertification required?
It depends on your system type and permit — not a flat 5 years. Florida's ERP rules set it by type: exfiltration trenches every 2 years, wet ponds and dry retention every 3, underground systems yearly. Five years is the maximum allowed and is common for drainage-district recerts. We confirm the exact interval from your permit.
Who can certify the recertification inspection?
As of June 28, 2025, the recurring O&M inspection can be certified by a qualified inspector — a licensed engineer, someone under an engineer's supervision, or a trained certified inspector — and filed on the state O&M inspection form. The system must be clean and functional to pass.
Who is responsible for maintaining an HOA's storm drains?
The operation-and-maintenance entity named on the permit — usually the HOA, condo association, or property owner.
